Soothe Your Senses

Start by booking a massage in our pavilion, whether you're a solo traveler or a couple seeking therapy tailored just for you. From there, move into the private sessions with yoga instructor Sara Bassindale, who will guide you to connect with the natural rhythms of your body and the world around you through meditation, movement, sound, and breath.

Also part of this experience is the Japanese tradition of Shinrin-yoku, or forest bathing, which invites healing through a profound connection with nature. Choose between a serene meditation session or a mindful walk in the woods—allowing nature to awaken all five of your senses.

To complement this, sound therapy will support your mental, emotional, and physical well-being as you listen to the healing sounds of flutes, drums, chimes, crystals, gongs, and Tibetan bowls.

In every moment, find peace, find connection, and feel the healing energy of nature.

Stephen Smith, Executive Chef

A long-time fixture on the North Coast, Chef Stephen began his culinary career at the tender age of 15 washing dishes and prepping for local chefs, where he learned the fundamentals of classical cooking. His career path took him to Sacramento and ultimately to the Bay Area, where he worked the line at Jeremiah Tower’s venerable Stars restaurant in San Francisco while attending the California Culinary Academy.

Following his graduation from CCA in 1991, he apprenticed at the Sacramento branch of the acclaimed Chinois East/West before returning to Mendocino in 1992. Travels throughout California, Mexico, Thailand, India, and Nepal, along with a month-long trek through the Andes, served to broaden his knowledge of regional and international cuisines. Now Chef Stephen brings this lifetime of experience and creativity to the Brewery Gulch Inn, where we are excited to welcome this James Beard-recognized talent to our kitchen.
